Profile

My name is Travis Lines and I have been a local tutor/educator for the past few years. I passionately believe in education as a way to improve one's life, so outside of my own education I have devoted much of my time to the field of education. My involvement in the field is detailed above under the heading "experience". Aside from my paid work in private tutoring and public speaking and debating coaching, I have invested a great deal of my time in volunteer work, including for the Melbourne University Health Initiative and the University of Melbourne Student Union's Summer School. Both of these organisations run projects aimed at students from difficult circumstances, in the hope of giving them similar opportunities as many of their peers.

Currently, I offer tutoring in Biology and Spanish. In addition, I also offer public speaking coaching, which is particularly useful for those about to undertake their English oral SACs or those merely wishing to improve their communication skills.

Biology is one of my passions, which is the reason I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Biomedicine with a specialisation in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This means that my knowledge of Biology is far more than adequate for the VCE course (one would hope so after two years of University!). As a current Biology student, I am well aware of the difficulties students with their studies and am well equipped to help my students deal with them. After all, I rely on the same study techniques that I share with them.

Spanish is another of my passions, which is why I have opted to tutor it. I have undertaken five Spanish subjects at the University of Melbourne, with the highest of these equivalent to an advanced level. I completed all of this in a year and a half and, as such, I know how to get results in languages very quickly. My results for Spanish have been particularly strong, consistently ranking among the highest in the cohort at the University of Melbourne as well as, on one occasion, ranking as the number one student in the cohort (intermediate Spanish).

Since 2010 I have participated competitively in Public Speaking competitions. My participation in such competitions culminated in a victory at the state finals of the VCAA Plain English Speaking Award, which led to my participation as Victoria's representative at the national final. In 2014 I worked at the Geelong College as a Public Speaking coach, where we had a number of success. Under my tutelage, students from the school made it to the state finals of Rostrum: The Voice of Youth and made it to the state semi-finals of the Plain English Speaking Award. This was the first time in a number of years that the College had made it to this level of participation in either competition.

  1. I think before joining any coaching institute it is necessary to check out each and every thing about that coaching institute like its features, qualification of a tutors. This is the positive point about your institute that you have given information about your institute in your blog.
